Message from the Vice President
The season has finally come to a close. It sure flew by this year and I hate to see fall return. The main pool is already covered and furniture stacked for storage – our management company sure is on the ball.
Speaking of the management company, we will have High Sierra Pool Management return to run the show again next season. They have done a wonderful job, especially with testing the lifeguards on CPR and rescue technique. We will also be able to hold off on raising dues because our contract price will remain the same next year...so no increases!!! Have a wonderful winter, see ya all around the Cape, Pia Wingblade, Vice President
Annual Meeting Wrap-Up
Because of Hurricane Irene, the Cape Saint Claire Swim Club’s Annual Meeting initially scheduled for August 28th was held on Sunday, September 11th. At least 25 club members attended the meeting. Kristie Alva, the Club’s President, thanked outgoing board members, Rhonda Titus and Pat McKay, and informed the membership that, before the 2012 season, both pools (main and baby) will be re-plastered and fencing around the baby pool and at the front of the property will be replaced.
Rhonda Titus, the Club’s outgoing Treasurer, presented the membership with the 2011 profit and loss statement through September 11, 2011. She reported that the Club had $125,000 in income and $103,000 expenses, leaving a net income of almost $22,000. Total cash on hand is $84,500, and $50,000 is in the board’s designated fund account (funds for capital improvements). Chairs of the various committees provided reports. The swim team has 107 swimmers and finished 3-1 in its division. Almost all of the swim lesson sessions were filled, and members participated in water aerobics and early morning lap swimming. There were a number of social events this year – from the luau on opening weekend to the chili cook-off on closing weekend – and lots of parties in between in the pavilion. High Sierra, the pool management company, will be returning for the 2012 season, and free wifi access will be back next summer. The meeting culminated in the election of five individuals to the Board of Governors. The new members of the Board of Governors are Bob Baca, Christine Byrne, Mark Grindle, Kristy Larsen, and Judy Schmid.
