2012 Season

General Information
In addition to a clean pool, friendly guards, and well-planned social events, CSCSC offers our community a thriving swim-team. The Cape St. Claire Dolphins Swim Team is a competitive swimming program that teaches the principles of teamwork and good sportsmanship, promotes a love for the sport, and advances aquatic skills – all while having fun! Children ages 6 through 18 who can swim one length of the pool, unaided, are eligible to join the swim team. The children receive endurance training, stroke refinement instruction, and improve significantly over the season.

The CSC Dolphins compete in the Greater Annapolis Swim League. Twenty local teams in four divisions comprise the Greater Annapolis Swim League (GASL). Division placement is determined by the previous year’s performance. Currently, CSC Dolphins occupy a spot in the Severn (2nd) division.

The season begins right after Memorial Day and ends the third week in July. Practices are held every weekday, and meets take place on five Saturday mornings.

Coaching Staff
Our staff is looking forward to another fun and instructional season, working with parents, swimmers, and officials toward setting and meeting goals both in and out of the pool.

Our new Head Coach Kristin Watson has been involved in competitive swimming since the age of five. She has swum for CMSL, NBAC, and Windgate University, where she became an Assistant Coach for the Men’s Swim Team. Kristin now teaches fourth grade in Howard County and is looking forward to her third summer coaching the Dolphins, Kristin will also lead our swim lessons this summer.

Our Assistant Coaches Cody Edwards, and Max Madden, are returning for their fourth summer of coaching the team. Both of them have completed hours of formal training including lifeguarding courses, CPR/AED and First Aid. Max also holds a Level 2 American Swim Coaches Certification and teaches a stroke clinic in the off-season. Both have years of competitive club swimming experience.

Registration Information
Please read all the information on this page prior to registering your child.
In the past few years the team has become so popular that space fills up fast. In order to give first chance to returning swimmers and club members we conduct an early on-line registration.

Online registration for returning swimmers and club members in good standing will begin April 1 through April 15. After April 15 we will fill any remaining spaces on a first come first served basis until the team is full. We have limited practice space and time in the pool and there is a limit on the number of swimmers the team can hold. Once the team is full we will close registration and will no longer accept any additional swimmers.

A link to registration will be posted here when registration opens.

Eligibility
Swimmers must be 18 or younger on June 1 of 2012. All swimmers regardless of age must be able to jump or dive into the deep end of the pool and do something that looks like freestyle the length of the pool before joining the team. If a swimmer is unable to do this or requires the full attention of a coach in order to safely swim in the pool they will be removed from the team without a refund.

Parent Commitment
All parents must work a minimum of THREE swim team jobs and the Championship meets each of your children attend. Please make sure that you and your child(ren) are comfortable with these requirements before signing up.

Team Fees
The team fee is $155 for CSCSC members and $170 for non-members. The team fee includes AAU athlete insurance, a team suit, a team cap and a team t-shirt. Team fee will NOT cover Championship entries this year.

All swimmers must attend swim suit fitting - date TBA.

ALL FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE.

Once the team has filled and we have completed registration we will not refund any registration fees for any reason. No exceptions – no kidding!

The member discount of $15 will be extended to all members in good standing and to all lessees who have a paid lease contract for the 2012 season at the time of registration. No fees will be refunded to those who lease after registration.

*Swimmers on Year Round Competitive Teams -The Cape St. Claire Dolphins are now an AAU team and your USA Swimming insurance will not cover you for summer swimming – therefore USA Swimming insurance fees will NOT be deducted from your registration fee.

Deadline to register returning swimmers and club members is April 15, 2012.
